Christmas is coming and we are sharing the blog love with fundraising once again, to show off their yearly Light up a Life evening.
Join us at our annual Light up a Life carol service on Thursday 12 December. It’s a chance to take time out over the busy Christmas period to commemorate the lives of loved ones and remember those who are no longer with us.
The evening begins at Trinity Hospice with the lighting of our Christmas tree at 6.45pm, followed by a candlelit procession to Holy Trinity Church for the service at 7.15pm.
Guest speakers, including Trinity patron Huw Edwards, will be reading at the service. You are also more than welcome to join us afterwards for wine and mince pies.
Kindly sponsored by
For more information about the event please contact Catherine on 0207 7787 1012 or email csykes@trinityhospice.org.uk.
And now I have the urge for some mince pies....is it too early yet?!
Bye for now

Magnolia Dinner
Another non Brook Green post!
I am in Holiday mode (so you will have a week off from my wittering) and so throwing caution the wind and going out on a limb and relishing my maverick status by posting about an event instead of stock. Woah!
Trinity is holding a Magnolia Dinner and Quiz at The Mall Galleries on 21 November.
The evening starts at 6.45pm and is a chance for family, friends and Trinity supporters to remember loved ones, and to support the vital work that Trinity’s nurses provide to over 2,000 Londoners each year.
The evening will be hosted by our patron Huw Edwards (yes! him of the BBC News!) and celebrity guests and will include a 3 course gourmet dinner and fine wines. Tables are £1,500 for a table of 10 or pairs of tickets can be bought for £300. Seating is limited so book now to avoid disappointment! For more information call 020 7787 1022
Thanking you.

Everyone's a Critic....
We welcome reviews and feedback as we always want to improve here at Brook Green.
(*Cue mini rant* However rudeness and abuse because we won't give you a discount will be ignored, as we are trying to raise as much money as we can for Trinity Hospice and so we need to sell things at a fair price. *Rant over*)
Here is a small round up of some reviews/comments found on the internet
Brook Green Bugle - "Top designers, brands and other stylish items in a high-quality boutique environment are the various USPs of BugleLand's newest charity shop, unveiled to a rapturous response from residents."
Just found this one, which was written for when we opened a few years ago!
My Village - "With an array of donated goods gracing the floor, and fine art decorating the shop's walls it will be a shopping experience unlike any other. Each visit to a Trinity store is different – and if you’re willing to rummage around a little, you may just find something really special."
(Although A Ralph Lauren polo shirt would be £14 - £20 here, depending on condition....)
This is about the Victoria shop, but we do get a name check ;) and we love to share the Trinity Hospice Charity Shops love. Other shop locations here.
Pocketful of Sunshine - "This is the perfect place for Londoners to pop along for some inexpensive merino and superwash wool for colour work. It's a charity shop near Victoria Station (85 Wilton Road)..."
Shall post more when we find them, or if you find any or even write one, please tell us so we can have a good read and maybe link it!

Meet the Volunteers - Yolaine
End of the week and the final volunteer to introduce you all to. (Well until we get some new ones in)
The shop as been going since Jan 2011 and Yolaine was there from the start.
Every Saturday afternoon, you can find her serving customers and putting stuff out, tidying and tagging. As long as I keep her full of peppermint tea, all is well.
Born in France, Yolaine is great at spotting all the french labels which comes in (which is quite a lot as Brook Green is a rather French area in London) and when a french customer comes in I can pretend I am in Provence while their conversation flows....
Yolaine is also the inventor of 'Photo of the Week'. Basically it allows her to try on oversized dresses and onesies and silly hats and shoes. Might even share some of those photos with you in this blog at some point, if you ask nicely....
Yolaine says "I look forward to my Saturday afternoon in the shop to, jouer รก la marchande. I enjoy learning new skills which is totally different to my line of work (HR Management), and meeting new people every week. Plus after 18 years in the UK I can still learn new things!"
If you wish to volunteer at Brook Green or any of Trinity Hospice shops (Locations here) get in touch by emailing Anna Alcock retailvolunteers@trinityhospice.org.uk or phoning her on 020 7787 1000

Susannah Hall Tailors
Susannah Hall Tailors joins forces with Trinity Hospice
(Another non direct Brook Green shop post but hey, it's Friday and I'm a maverick)
We need more lovely things like this to happen for Trinity Hospice! What a great idea and many thanks.
Please read the link - How and Why they are helping out Trinity Hospice. Read it as it will save a lot of cutting and pasting
If there are any local companies in the Brook Green / Hammersmith / Shepherds Bush area who wish to do something similar or have other ideas to help us out, please email at brookgreenshop@trinityhospice.org.uk

Trinity Hospice & Ebay
Not entirely about Brook Green, but as it is all to do with raising money, I shall share with you all, as I'm kind like that.
Trinity Hospice Shops has their own ebay account.
New items and excess stock from various shops go there and of course if Joe Bloggs wants to donate a % of his own ebay sales to Trinity Hospice he can. (What a kind fella Joe Bloggs is!)
As I said, this is nothing to do with Brook Green directly so for the moment we don't have any of our stock on there, but I am working on that! We want to sell to the world (and complete it with world domination!!! *cue evil manic laugh*)

And so it begins....
Halfway between Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush, exists Brook Green's best kept secret. Trinity Hospice's shop at 84 Shepherds Bush Road, W6 7PD, is full of anything and everything people can donate!
This first blog is to introduce you to our shop and Trinity Hospice, but we hope to introduce you to staff and volunteers, show stock and the interesting, unusual and exciting donations.
The Brook Green store has a loyal and generous local community providing high quality regular donations of pre-owned stock - clean, high quality merchandise.
This means new stock all the time and designer labels at accessible prices.
For shopping that wont break the bank and knowing you are helping to support Trinity Hospice, we have the most amazing new and nearly new designer and vintage bargains. Search out our donated designer labels from brands like Paul Smith, Kenzo, Prada, Miu Miu, Diane Von Furstenburg, Chloe, Hugo Boss, and Armani and many others!
We carry woman's wear and menswear, accessories, home ware, art, books - including 1st editions and collectables, music and children's clothes and toys. New stock goes out everyday so you never know what you might find....
We rely on donations and so there may be some blog pleas on occasion, but we do ask nicely! When stock is donated we would love everyone to sign up to Gift Aid. It only works if you are a UK Taxpayer, but it really helps us as it increases the value of your donation at no cost to you. Gift Aid now adds 25% to the value of the goods you donate to Trinity.
The important information here explains all. It might not sound a lot (25p extra for £1) but it all adds up!
This blog is here to raise the profile of the Trinity Hospice charity so please feel free to use the comments section to express an interest in your favourite items and support
Trinity Hospice (or find them on twitter or facebook)
Trinity provides skilled, compassionate end of life care to individuals and support for families in our central and south west London community. All our patient and family services are free of charge. Our services include nursing and medical care, counselling and practical support, welfare advice, occupational and physiotherapy, complementary therapies, creative activities and bereavement care. It costs £9.6 million each year to maintain Trinity’s services but less than a third of our funding comes from the NHS. We depend on the support of our local community in the form of donations, fundraising and legacies to continue our work.

And so the Brook Green Shop Blog begins....
