This came in with the framed animal prints but we thought it deserved a post of it's own.
This is larger than the other prints measuring 13 by 18 inches (34 by 46 cms approx)
The print is the cover piece from the "The fairest of the fair" sheet music and the jolly bearded one needs to be loved.
£34
Such a happy smiley beard.
It seems to be from 1856, written by William Brough this piece for the stage was published by Thomas German Reed.
William Brough (28 April 1826 – 13 March 1870) was an English writer. As a dramatist, he wrote some of the earliest German Reed Entertainments, as well as Victorian burlesques, farces and other pieces.
Here is a link to some of the sheet music itself if you fancy having a sing song

100 year old books
I would love to own a 2nd hand antique bookshop one day. Although I wouldn't be able to sell any as I would want to keep them and touch them and smell them and look at them all the time. Actually I think I just want an old book Library!
This donation was fantastic from an interesting point of view.
3 HUGE bags of books, the 'newest' of which was from 1929.
The oldest was 1830, but sadly has fallen apart completely.
Some were first editions, others in French, some in German.
A smorgasbord of topics!
All of which we have researched and priced accordingly.
most are priced £2 - £4 but there are a few worth a lot more.
This one on Medieval Towns is £28 from 1906
We also have an Autoharp album £3, a book on Puritan England £4, and some French novellas £4 each.
Plus they look lovely with our 1950's and 60's and 70's novels (maybe we shall blog about those later!)

It's Your Round
We love to get interesting, different and one off donations and the item of the day today is this piece of Victoriana.
Donated by one of our lovely regular customers, this is over 100 years old! History in your hands.
Although we wouldn't recommend drinking out of it, it would be a lovely addition to any kitchen /dinning room /bar /window sill....
For £28 is could be yours!
And as I've had this in my head since typing the word Victoriana, enjoy...
(also referring back to our earlier blog, where I mentioned Nietzsche and AC/DC, if you have any Kinks* CDs you no longer want, bring them in to us. WE NEED CDs! Please.)
*any band will do to be honest
