That big orangey yellow orb in the sky is called the Sun. We don't see it much in Britain, but when we do we go CRAZY for it!
The Sun is SHINING! Look at it. NO DON'T LOOK! It will burn your eyes out, and nobody wants that.

Totally fed up with this grey, dull muggy summer, so we have taken it into our own hands and trying to prompt the sun to come out with our bright windows!

A lot of our donations are new items with tags still on. I say a lot. I would guess at 11% which I made up in my head to sound like I know what I am going on about! So not that much, but when it comes in, it goes pretty much that same day (week at the latest....)
We have all done it. Bought something and lost the receipt so couldn't return it. Or bought something that a 'friend' said looked awesome, when it looked very un-awesome indeed. Or got carried away at a sale and bought a lovely pink and yellow boxy jacket with blue buttons. It was only £33, reduced from £200....hmmm. You now know it should have stayed on the rail and not been introduced to your wardrobe. (yes I did do this. NEVER again!)
At the moment we have these two lovely dresses which would be excellent for a wedding this summer.

This lovely purple dress is by Swedish designer Valerie Aflalo is a size 10 (euro 38) rrp is SEK 1999 - about £196 and it could be yours for 3 twenty pound notes. Or a fifty and a ten. Or six tens. Or... Card it. £60 Glass beaded necklace £10

Both of these dresses have many shoe and bag options and combinations, but if you are unsure when you pop in, ask our volunteers as they know how to make an outfit work. Talented lil lot.
We all know how rubbish the British weather is. It is the one thing we can all talk about. It is probably one of the main topics of conversation with our customers, so we at Brook Green like to be ready for all possible weathers. Where else other then the humble charity shop can you buy skis and weatherproof jackets at the same time as bikinis and vest tops? (except maybe the internet, but that doesn't count...)
Of course we change the shop around for each season, but knowing the summer weather and what customers want/need to buy we still sneak out some winter warmth. Going on a skiing holiday in June?, or has a monsoon just cracked open the storm clouds?, pop in to see us, as unlike those designer or high street shops we are not forced to be seasonally stocked. Anything goes! (Although in saying that we are not totally silly and so store winter items away for winter in the summer and summery summer items away in the winter. We are just like boy scouts. Prepared. Just in case the weather turns)
