Luster set

Being British we love Tea and Cake. Although most of the time we use mugs, sometimes you just want to use a lovely tea set.

Brook Green does get tea sets in rather often, but this one is a little bit different with a lovely luster glaze.

A burnt orange and white luster set for £8
Teapot
Milk jug
Sugar pot
1 plate
2 cups and 2 saucers
One cup does have a tiny chip on the rim, so it is sold as seen.

A luster glaze is when the pottery is covered in a metallic glaze which gives an effect of iridescence.

Now all you need is a tea party to show it off!

Anya Hindmarch Shoeseses

Admittedly, so far this year there hasn't really been much sun, but if those days do soon appear then we have these sandals for your feet.

Anya Hindmarch is famous for those "I am not a plastic bag" bags -" using her influence in a positive way to make it fashionable not to use plastic bags", as well as her fun and funky tote and clutch bags.
The Essex born designer says her design philosophy is "British, humorous and bespoke"

Her shoes are just as lovely and these are simple but bright, so will definitely catch peoples eye.

Size 4 (eur 37), rubber soled, with fabric uppers.
Decorated with the Hindmarch logo Bow in red.

Woven 'heels'.
£32
In as new condition.

Perfect for those lovely summer strolls.....in a few months time!

Issey Miyake - How you confuse us so...

Well, once again the residents of Brook Green have completely bowled us over with their generousity! Totally run out of lovely things to say and for once, when I saw the donation I was lost for words! *shock*

A clothes rail and a small bag with one item in it was handed in. What Andrew, the relief manager, took out the bag meant he was gobsmacked (And Andrew loves a chat more then I do, so for him to be lost for words too is no mean feat!)
He had pulled out an Issey Miyake creation.

Now I use the word creation for a reason as we were at a loss for quite a while as to how it actually worked. Issey Miyake is a Japanese fashion designer who explores technology to make very interesting clothes. It is his Pleats Please for which he is best known.

Wikipedia: "In the late 1980s, he began to experiment with new methods of pleating that would allow both flexibility of movement for the wearer as well as ease of care and production. This eventually resulted in a new technique called garment pleating in 1993's Pleats Please in which the garments are cut and sewn first, then sandwiched between layers of paper and fed into a heat press, where they are pleated. The fabric's 'memory' holds the pleats and when the garments are liberated from their paper cocoon, they are ready-to wear."

It took us at least 3 weeks to get the garment to this stage - Folded, origami style, flat... - as it was inside out and with a random strap that confused us.
Then after trying the piece on Andreea we came up with these...

But then google showed us this. So this is how it is supposed to look! (we think)
Image from Here.

We also found out it was quite a LOT of money, so we are now trying to work out the best way for Trinity Hospice to get the most money for it.
If you are interested call Head Office on 02077871001 for details.

Well done Issey Miyake and the lovely couple who donated it!

We are still down Hammersmith way...

...which is why we have gone a little quiet.

Brook Green will be closed until the 17th March.

And depending on how soon a permanent manager can be found we still may be at Hammersmith, past that date.

Sadly Trinity Hospice are really short staffed at the moment so we are all mucking in and covering the big shops to make more money.
A full shop at Fulham!
Trinity Hospice's Fulham Shop in all it's glory

There are more Shop Manager and Assistant Manager jobs for some of Trinity Hospice's other shop locations too!

Click here if you are interested in Fashion and Retail and want to know more about the roles available.
Or If you are passionate about retailing and the ability to maximise sales and profits to support Trinity Hospice then please contact our Human Resources department on 0207 787 1000, or email humanresources@trinityhospice.org.uk

In other news....I know we have had a bag dropped off at the Brook Green shop with some skinny MiH jeans inside - Some of which are new! Sizes 8, 10 and 12.

Obviously it is a little mean of me telling you when the shop is shut, but just trying to get you all excited and eager to pop in when we are back up and running!

Begging, begging yoooou - for some Handbags...

Good morning to you all. Hope you are well. Us? Oh we are OK thank you very much. You look lovely today.

Yes we are schmoozing you all as we are on the beg again. Last week we had some great sales of Handbags and now we have half empty shelves!

If, like me, you have a bag for every day of the week and then some and there are some buried in those deep dark wardrobe recesses, and while the weather is rainy and yuck if you have a sort out and decide to part with some, please please please bring them in to us here at Brook Green.

Clutch bags, Beaded evening bags, Shopper style bags, Shoulder bags and Tote bags.

Anything and everything bag related - but not suitcases for the moment as we have many!

(Oh and all you UK taxpayers - if you wouldn't mind signing up to Gift Aid that would be lovely too.)

Mirror, Mirror...

...blah blah is my face the best of all?!
Well this one may not talk back and be slightly evil, but it is a mirror all the same.

A vanity mirror (or in 'normal' terms, a hand mirror), which is old and fab and silver.

Lovely old mirror (and it is gift aided!) LOVE IT
S.B and S is the hallmark here, and from our research it is S. Blanckensee & Son.
Founded in Brisol in 1826 by Solomon Blanckensee. They moved to Birmingham soon after. Solomon's son Aaron joined the firm in 1865, and took over when his father retired in 1874.

The hallmark also tells us that this mirror was made up Birmingham way in 1923.

The hand mirror has been dropped (or thrown..?!) as there is a dent in it. But I think it makes it more interesting.
So this 90 year old mirror could be yours for £35.

And as much as the Disney Wicked Queen was evil, she did look blooming amazing in her purple robes...

Cool Coral

It is still winter but of course the colours for the Spring/Summer clothing collections are trickling out. Although we are never really surprised - Pastel in Spring and Neon in Summer..

Getting in there just as early as the big fashion houses, we have these 2 outfits showing the pastel and neutral Spring palette.

Model one - Ladylike Cream Lace
This lovely lace dress is by Zara.
Size 10 (eur 38) £10
and it is new with tags still attached.

We have added a thick coral coloured belt (trimmed in black patent leather) from Reiss £10
along with a faux leather Jacket from Topshop Tall range.
Size 14 (eur 42) £30

Model two - Navy and Coral

We have come over all designery (is that even a word?! It is now) on this one.
Plus as per our way of working they have been reduced now! Bargain!

The top is be Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti and it is a silk and wool and cashmere mix.
Size 8 (eur 36)
£40 £24

The skirt is a beautiful Miss Valentino by Valentino sequined up piece.
Size 16 (eur 44)
Small splits up the sides along with these sprays of squin and beads, just adds a little something to a rather simply cut skirt.
£40 £19

The necklace is a Dior costume piece £10 and the belt (not designer...) is £4 but we think it just ties in the whole outfit nicely, and shows off the flared peplum effect of the top.

Coral seems to go with everything!

Trinkets

Ta Da! I fixed the camera! Well, I remembered to charge it. Whooops.
Anyhow, here we are - Trinket box

Everyone has trinkets. (or bits of stuff as I like to call them, lots of stuffs...)
So why not get a pretty box to put them in?

And I just love the word TRINKETS. Trinkets. It just sounds nice.

We have had Limoges items in before, but don't think that this will be about for long!
£24.

Hand painted with little flowers and trimmed with a gold metal rim, and with a little gold leaf painted inside. Just delightful.

Go forth and grab some trinkets to fill this with!

Just typical...

Just as we have some lovely shoes to show off to you all, the camera died. It has been one of those weeks this week! So we are here primed and full of lovely things, but can't actually show you any right this instant.

Designer shoes, some nice trinket boxes and a couple of handbags will be brought to you asap! (unless they sell in the meantime - Which we hope they do, but kinda hope they don't as we want to show them off to you!)

Until we can get normal services up and running again, we hope you have a fab weekend, and that it is not too damp!
Don't forget we are open Saturday and Sunday, ready for your donations and to make you part with some cash in retrun for some amazing items!

Potty for Pottery

Haven't done any bric a brac for a while, so today we have to show to you - some Dartmouth Pottery.

Dartmouth Pottery, situated in the south Devon town of Dartmouth, was established in 1947 and is still operating.
A lovely sea blue this pair of vases are £16.

On the bottom they are marked "98 DARTMOUTH POTTERY" and both still have their little gold stickers on.

We really like the funky square shape of these pair. Twisted squares.
They are an inch wide (2.5cm) and approx 12cm high.
